Edit: It's in the newsfaq page https://news.ycombinator.com/newsfaq.html https://news.ycombinator.com/newsfaq.html per the replies
- john_strinlai 2mo agoit's in https://news.ycombinator.com/newsfaq.html https://news.ycombinator.com/newsfaq.html Are paywalls ok? It's ok to post stories from sites with paywalls that have workarounds. in other words, its not ok to post stories from sites with paywalls that do not have workarounds.
- oriettaxx 2mo agouh, I did not know: what I saw, so far, is that paywalled submission appears and then some volunteer would reply with a workaround... (many thanks to them)
- john_strinlai 2mo ago>what I saw, so far, is that paywalled submission appears and then some volunteer would reply with a workaround. right. there is no requirement that the submitter provides the workaround themselves. the requirement is that a workaround exists. sometimes nice commenters will provide the workaround, but again, the only requirement is that it is possible to workaround the paywall.
- oriettaxx 2mo agoah, great. Super clear now, thank you.
- croemer 2mo agoYes here in FAQs: Are paywalls ok? It's ok to post stories from sites with paywalls that have workarounds. In comments, it's ok to ask how to read an article and to help other users do so. But please don't post complaints about paywalls. Those are off topic.
