If Your New People Are on X, Maybe Your New People Suck

- wpm 2mo ago> New Twitter will be hostile to anyone queer, or non-white, or slightly to the left of Ronald Reagan. Yes, but if you left twitter and never returned, have you tested your hypothesis in any way? How hostile is it? Because when I login I see tweets from a few youtubers I watch, the guy who made my favorite font, some excellent aesthetics collage posters, a few of the remaining local urbanists that didn't jump ship, and some memey shitposters. Are there slightly more chuds/bot in the replies throwing slurs around or spinning wild, insane conspiracy theories? Sure. But you can just ignore them. Mute words. Blocking still works too. I mean, I get it that some people just don't want to see that and that's fine, but I don't use threads or instagram either, and I don't also make sweeping generalizations about the people who use it because I literally couldn't know. When you run a bar, yes, you can't let a single Nazi in. But I don't run a bar. I'm scrolling memes and old Sun workstation glamour shots while I take a shit. It's not that serious.
- next_xibalba 2mo agoIt is truly amazing how hostile some of these "free thinkers" are to ideas and speech that are in conflict with their own. Kind of makes you wonder who is actually fascist.
- ycdeebs 2mo agoI dunno, when I am on X, it’s a constant barrage of “capitalism is the worst”, “no one can afford anything”, etc. Doesn’t seem like the type of thing that Nazis would be saying.
- uslic001 2mo agoSeems like the author hasn't been on X in awhile. It is nothing like he claims. Bluesky is the most hostile social media site that has ever existed if you don't go along with the party line.
