Also they're low income people probably mostly working really hard, of course they need some leisure time. They need a vacation more than most!
I was hoping to see some positive effect on time spent with kids especially young children. That alone would probably pay for a good chunk of it via future educational attainment.
- bko 2mo agoThere's always people that make some excuses. It wasn't enough money. It wasn't going to last forever. It wasn't long enough. How about throwing money at people doesn't really solve their problems. On the margin, they work a bit less, spend more and revert to some base level of life satisfaction. This is in line with my experience and the experience of everyone I know. I've seen plenty of people 2x, 5x and even 10x their earnings over a decade or so and they're more or less the same. Save the same percent, same level of happiness, etc. Money isn't the solution to everyone's problems.
