No I'm not gross enough to conflate/equivalate past brutality with present brutality to win ideological points. PRC today is far from brutal while US continues to be. Grandpa is being wife beater doesn't make the grand kid one.

But sure, totally not brutal. Don't get me wrong I am a huge fan of China, it is an amazing country and people, with so much history, knowledge, thoughtfulness, examination of the human condition. I love the people. Both those ex-Chinese now Americans forced to the US because of Chinese government repression, those I have met when visiting China.
