"important" just mean that you hope that it will, implicitly lead to a better outcome. But you don't identify that equivalence in your own reasoning.
This is true for your other points as well, but it is very explicit in this particular one.

No, as I said, this is not true, at least not always. Here’s a counter-example: I have known many people who derive great peace and comfort from believing in some religious belief that doesn’t appear to me to be true. This is especially true when they experience hardship, such as the death of someone close to them. I think it’s quite likely that having a religious belief would be beneficial for me mentally in situations like this and lead to a better outcome than not having those beliefs, yet I still don’t adopt any such beliefs.
