Do you hate e-bikes, or do you hate city planning that treats e-bikes as second-class citizens, and forces them into direct competition with cars and pedestrians?

- loco5niner 1mo agoI know 2 middle-aged to older ladies who both had bad accidents after their husbands bought or rented an e-bike for them that they did not have the skillset to handle. Months of recovery, thankfully nothing life-threatening. > To those people I wish a slow and painful death. I'm on generally the same page, but this is a bit much.
- tomhow 1mo agoPlease don't post ragebait or wish anyone death on HN. The guidelines make it clear we're trying for something better here. We have to ban accounts that do this repeatedly. https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html
- loco5niner 1mo agoThe biggest problem I've seen with bicycles is that SOME bicyclists act like they are a car when it suits them and a pedestrian when it suits them, even when infrastructure is properly in place.
- swiftcoder 1mo ago> even when infrastructure is properly in place Is it though? I've cycled in a number of US cities, and even in the ones that have bike lanes, most only have small sections that are physically-divided from traffic, and pretty much none have intersections that bikes can safely cross without using the pedestrian crosswalks.
