"You're welcome" is absolutely hilarious to read from a company post.
- trial3 2mo agoYour HN comment has a reply. You're welcome.
- bmitc 2mo agoIt's gotten out of hand. Companies making money think they do everyone a favor.
- tredre3 2mo agoThey are doing us a favor, there's no denying that. Just like dozen of other providers did them a favor by providing them with the free software pieces they relied on to build their product. Of course it's poor taste to add the "You're welcome". But poor taste is par for the course for such startup, unfortunately.
- bmitc 2mo agoI meant it in a broader sense. Even for paid products, corporations view themselves as doing customers a favor. That's the sort of antagonistic relationship they define.
- imoverclocked 2mo agoDespite interesting legal definitions, companies are just groups of people. I also read the title as having an air of self-importance or maybe passive-aggression. If you read it a little more dispassionately then it's just an awkward way of stating that this is a gift. Why is this a gift? The company does not need to give it to you, though it arguably benefits from doing so. It did so with some definition of "free."
- hinkley 2mo agoWhat can I say, except you're welcome.
- zeafoamrun 2mo agoWow 18 hours in and they haven't changed the title of their post. What jerks.
- bufbuild 2mo agoWe're terrible comedians - we've added something of a mea culpa to the post!
