- rzk 2mo agoClaude is down, but their status page doesn't mention it yet: "All Systems Operational" – https://status.claude.com https://status.claude.com.
- extr0pian 2mo agoCan confirm. I keep getting an error "Authentication service was unavailable. You can try again." However, logging out and trying to log in I just get the same issue.

- proc0 2mo agoThis is why I'm local first. Local models are getting pretty capable for most tasks. I just worry AI companies are colluding to make hardware more expensive and force everyone on the cloud, but then this stuff will happen and worse.
- walrus01 2mo agoThe effect of the current sudden burst of extreme market demand from entities with very deep pockets for (GPU, RAM, SSD storage, etc) seems to be indistinguishable from the point of view of the small end user to market collusion. Standing up something like a new DRAM fab is an incredibly expensive proposition that takes years to do.
- proc0 2mo agoI hope so. From what I read the difference is companies are buying HBM which is different that DDR, and the memory manufacturers only have so much output. Maybe that levels off. I also think the local models will be good enough as any other that are run on the cloud and you would only get an expensive subscription for the really demanding tasks like research or enterprise scale software.
- jmon2026 2mo agoSame. I am here in California, and I get the same "Authentication service was unavailable." Then I get redirected to a page that shows "Claude is temporarily unavailable."

- soundworlds 2mo agoYeap, all Oauth sessions got kicked and can't get back in. Welp, switching to Deepseek V4 Flash 0731 via OpenRouter. Stoked that AI is in a place we have legitimate options available!

I'm paranoid enough to have the thought that it's shills trying to use HN's "hotness" downranking against negative publicity... ... maybe I'm too paranoid, but it feels like this outage has a lot more totally useless comments than normal. I mean, there are some egregious examples. "oh noo", twice. "Hello!", being another.. Along with one new account asking "which local LLM is better"... twice.
