Technically, Firefox Focus (a separate browser for iOS) includes an adblocker feature that can be applied system wide via iOS's content blockers subsystem. This was released in the late 2010s.
Firefox including it is likely just reducing the steps required.
- adityeah 2mo agoYes and not only that, one can enable that as a safari extension and get an ad-free experience on safari too.
- brightbeige 2mo agoIf you search the App Store and don’t find it, it’s called Firefox Klar in some markets
- cpeterso 2mo agoFirefox Focus is called Klar (“clear” in German) in Germany because the Focus trademark is owned by a German news magazine.
- HeadOfProbing 2mo agoLove Firefox. But I always thought it was terribly misguided product direction of them to ever release this as a separate iOS app.
- Forgeties79 2mo agoHow do you do this? Straight up don’t know what the “content blocker subsystem” is ha

- Forgeties79 2mo agoAh duh I should’ve checked for that documentation. Thanks
- wodenokoto 2mo agoWait, it can be used system wide? I copy paste link into Firefox Focus when ads makes a page too unreadable.
- goolz 2mo agoLove Focus! Daily drove for years now. It is great that it nukes your tabs when you fully close it. Helps my brain.
