  I think this is a case of not understanding operators who're fishing for suckers. If you're not that kind of predator, you might not see it.

      My guess is because these people are trading in $450 in cash for $400 of non-redeemable Starbucks credit.

        There is also the view they are trading in cash for the convenience and social-acceptance of a gift card.

        I would not get much pleasure from the possession of the metal card. Will others? I think many will, even in excess of the $50 mark-up.
