Wow, my post suddenly went viral! Just opened GitHub a few minutes ago, and saw +17 stars on my project from the last few hours... Anyway, i see a lot of people asking WHY making ky own engine or language. So the main answer is: for fun. it's clearly not going to be even close to a professional engine like godot/unity/modern gamemaker, but this is mine, and the others aren't :)
But i wrote more about it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/csharp/comments/1tmcg6j/my_biggest_c_project_a_game_engine_with_its_own/ https://www.reddit.com/r/csharp/comments/1tmcg6j/my_biggest_...
- spacechild1 2mo agoThanks for sharing! Great attitude!
- WillAdams 2mo agoTwo thoughts/questions: - do you feel that this could be used to make a (simple) drawing program? - have you considered setting up your codebase as a Literate Program? http://literateprogramming.com/ http://literateprogramming.com/ Notably, that would then allow publishing the project as a PDF for didactive purposes.
- am-gm 2mo ago1. Not in the current state of the engine, but in the future - after implementing all the graphics functions that i plan to add - yes, absolutly. 2. Hmm no, first time i hear about it
- WillAdams 2mo agoThanks! I've been suffering for analysis-paralysis trying to pick an environment for a current project --- hopefully this will get me actually working.... If you have occasion to try Literate Programming, or have any interest in the concept, I'd be glad to hear of it.
- am-gm 2mo agoAlso, if you want to use winforms for your painting app, you can have a look at the image editor of the IDE - https://github.com/ArcadeMakerSources/ArcadeMaker/blob/master/src/ArcadeMaker.IDE/Forms/Editors/Sprite/SpriteDesigner.cs https://github.com/ArcadeMakerSources/ArcadeMaker/blob/maste... It only has a few tools now, but i think it's a great base to start
