Ask HN: Move AI news from Hacker News to somewhere else?
There seems to be a real need for updated news on all the latest AI models, pricing, performance, how to self host the models and legislations. Is it really hacking or is just AI business news? Maybe it is time to move AI news to somewhere else? May be it would have been best if the Lisp/Arc developers at Y Combinator would be kind enough to implement a filter for AI news?
- rickcarlino 2mo agoYou may prefer a site like Lobste.rs, which has tags and the ability to hide certain tags.
- tietjens 2mo agoIn my opinion this news is now part of hacking.

- krapp 2mo agoPlenty of people on HN want the entire community to match their personal preference. It's why flagging all "political" stories and complaining that any insufficiently technical story isn't "HN worthy" is a thing. You can probably find plenty of people who only want to read stories about AI, as your comment sarcastically implies.
- Jtsummers 2mo agoHN has been business focused for a very long time, it was founded by a VC and a major theme on any given day has always been startups and what they're doing, how they're doing it, or how to join that club yourself. That means it always has a lot of coverage related to the current major industry trends. There's a hide option beside every link, use it. You can hide any of the stories you don't care about for whatever reason you may have. You can also check out the various lists like /active, /pool, and others to find more interesting discussions that may not be making it to, or staying on, the first couple of pages.
- firefax 2mo agoi thought we were trying to do the sequel to slashdot, but much like other web forums i've been a part of i don't really read the front page
- runjake 2mo agoWhat? No, it's not time to move AI news somewhere else. It's one of the biggest tech and business topics, if not the biggest. If the HN audience didn’t want AI stories, they wouldn’t keep making the front page. You may not like it, but AI isn’t going away. It’s going to keep evolving and become integral to tech. If you want a version of Hacker News without AI, I suggest the following website with the AI filter. But then you'd be ignoring the biggest technological advancement in a long time. https://hcker.news/?ai=exclude https://hcker.news/?ai=exclude But, if you're not into AI and you're planning to stay in tech, I suspect you're going to have a hard time adapting.
- marcelo-earth 2mo agoThanks for the tip! I was going to suggest tags, but this is better for me as a reader
- runjake 2mo agoYeah, about half the time, mostly due to poor memory, I use the hcker.news site just because it's faster, more readable and configurable. I'm usually narrowing down to a topic of interest, rather than trying to exclude something.

- wbnns 2mo agoI think it's very relevant, consider it hacking-related, and like to see it here.
