  It is both that and the primary strategy that countries in central to northern Europe uses to bring down emissions. The only political group that oppose that specific strategy is the far right, which isn't a party all people who care about climate change will rally behind. I have often said that burning fuel in thermal power plants should be banned for new power plants, as that would eliminate much of the dishonesty in the climate change debate. There is a need for a political movement that simply embrace emission free energy, without trying to redefine it as including bio fuels and natural gas.
