Honest, vulnerable writing is often like that. I recognize that this is HN where everybody constantly pretends to have everything all figured out, so maybe this article is a bad fit. But I mean, you feel the feelings you feel, you daydream the dreams you do. Whether that makes you seem "spoiled" doesn't really factor into any of that, it still happens.
- fyredge 2mo agoMy takeaway is not that the author is spoiled, but has not had the opportunity to see the fuller picture. More often than not, we see only the surface of another's life. More importantly, we see the things we want from others while not acknowledging the sacrifices required to obtain it.
