Delta investigating after someone set up fake Wi-Fi network mid-flight

• OutOfHere 2mo ago
  > The pilots said a passenger “created a scam Wi-Fi” that was designed to impersonate the airplane’s legitimate wireless network.

I'm surprised this is news. I would assume this happens multiple times per day on nearly every airline?

Remember “Free Public WiFi”? It was viral! https://computer.rip/2023-07-29-Free-Public-WiFi.html https://computer.rip/2023-07-29-Free-Public-WiFi.html

  >The flight crew turned off the aircraft’s legitimate Wi-Fi network for around 30 minutes due to the incident. That would force everyone trying to connect to their network onto the bootleg network. Also, you don't need commercial tools to create a Wi-Fi access point. Any laptop can do it.
