That's great. Netherland banned them a couple of years ago. Unfortunately I still receive them. Sometimes a lot. A year or two ago, I received calls almost every week from a major TV/internet provider (Ziggo-Vodafone; total crooks). I told them not to call me again, I complained to the regulator, but as far as I can tell, nothing was ever done about it.
So banning it is great, but you still need to enforce that law.

- mcv 2mo agoFrom the same company? That's crazy. You'd think they'd get the message, but they're really stubborn. Most Dutch companies seem to obey the rules, but this one (and it's a big one) clearly does not. I still don't understand why they weren't fined into oblivion.
- Fnoord 2mo agoWere you a former customer of Vodafone-Ziggo? If yes, did you delete your account?

- Fnoord 2mo agoNext one who calls you is likely a colleague of the one who just phoned you. Don't inform the colleague you cannot be converted to a sale. Let them waste their time, not reaching their targets.
- mcv 2mo agoYeah, but then they're also wasting my time. Maybe I'd need an app that recognises the scam call, and then lets an AI waste their time.
- Fnoord 2mo agoI meant that from the scammers viewpoint, and their colleague/competitor). If I was a scammer, I'd target people who were rich, and the elder. I would use leaked datasets to find these people. And then I wouldn't give up after I failed once, but guards are up if a scam failed, so seems not useful to retry. But honestly, those scammers you mention seem low hanging fruit. Yes, you could forward an Android call to Asterisk server and use STT (Voxstral has real-time module), LLM, and TTS to generate a reply. But I think the added latency is going to be problematic. I wish you all the best, I hate marketing, but I hate liars even more.
- conradfr 2mo agoIn France it's multiple calls per day. Especially on landlines mostly used by older people.
