Their basic point is very valid, and the term "AI" is now so overused that it's become essentially meaningless.
Recently I've heard "AI" used to mean:
* using large language models for code/text/image generation
* goal-driven search of a problem space
* pattern extraction from images
* algorithmic decision making
* audio pattern recognition
* something (unspecified) using lots of computers
* and more trivially, "doing it on a computer"!
- hallgrim 2mo agoAnother awkward overlap with the use of “AI” exists in games, too. Because here AI just means behavior, from a simple Goomba walking left to right to smart squads of soldiers coordinating, taking cover etc.
