I'm not anti-AI, but I have QUALLMS
- drpixie 2mo agoTheir basic point is very valid, and the term "AI" is now so overused that it's become essentially meaningless. Recently I've heard "AI" used to mean: * using large language models for code/text/image generation * goal-driven search of a problem space * pattern extraction from images * algorithmic decision making * audio pattern recognition * something (unspecified) using lots of computers * and more trivially, "doing it on a computer"!
- hallgrim 2mo agoAnother awkward overlap with the use of “AI” exists in games, too. Because here AI just means behavior, from a simple Goomba walking left to right to smart squads of soldiers coordinating, taking cover etc.
