I am always reminded at a convenience store if I pick up a candy bar that some of my earliest memories include them costing 5 cents in the early 1970s that very quickly became 10 cents and by the late 70s, maybe 25 cents max for a standard size. Today, easily 10x this.
- projektfu 2mo agoI just can't buy impulse candy anymore. It seems outrageously expensive to me, and I got my start in the 50¢ era of the 80s-90s.
- toasty228 2mo agoEverything I can think of at the very least tripled in price since 2000, but according to official sources we have a cumulated 50% inflation since then
- gib444 2mo agoBut your car now has Bluetooth and a reversing camera and that's easily a £10,000 value add so it all balances out !
- toasty228 2mo agoOf course, and your mac m5 is 10x faster than intel macs from 2015 so they're actually 10x cheaper in our calculations! Also your rent tripled since then, so it counts triple towards the GDP, the economy is doing amazing, don't you see ?
