My overarching thought after reading as much as I could stand of this is: "Wow, sure sounds like Zuck really drank his own Kool-Aid - or if he didn't, at least he wants us all to believe that he did!". The question is not whether "superintelligence" will be accomplished, the question is only how fast. I mean, LLMs are nice, but the jury's still out on whether they alone will be enough for "superintelligence"...
> I do not understand why anyone who believes that AI will eliminate most jobs and much of humanity's relevance would rush to build that future.
Because they can make a sh*tload of money by doing it (or at least they hope they can)?
- automatic6131 2mo ago>the jury's still out on whether they alone will be enough for "superintelligence"... Jury's been back for years: LLMs will never, can never, deliver superintelligence or AGI or the Omnissiah for that matter.
- harimau777 2mo agoWhat's the evidence for that? I don't think it is likely to happen, but I don't see any evidence that AGI won't happen.
- sph 2mo agoExtraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.
- fuzzfactor 2mo ago>sounds like Zuck really drank his own Kool-Aid It does. What are some of the tech elites "sweetening" their kool-aid with these days anyway?
- tim333 2mo agoAI will almost certainly get to be pretty intelligent. Whether the algo is LLM or something else doesn't matter that much. I note the term LLM doesn't appear in Zuck's thing.
