I’ve been working on something to help our family plan things better. We have two kids now in elementary school and both involved in extra activities. Registration dates, birthdays, game times, etc. are a lot to keep track of. We both have work and personal calendars and never sat down to plan which calendar gets what. Maybe that would’ve been easier! In any case, I built Mavo to try and centralize that stuff and see if I can make it more proactive than just a calendar.
You send it your events via email, online, in-app, or text message even, and it puts it into your calendar for you, letting you know if there’s conflicts and keeping track of who is assigned to what, not just who’s attending or not. My goal is to have it proactively notify you when there’s potential issues like rain, traffic, or something else.
You can connect it to ChatGPT, Claude, or other agent through MCP so you don’t even have to use the built-in AI. And there’s an API, SDK and CLI for those who want to tinker and build custom displays or interactions.
There’s an always-free version to get started and try it out. You can find it at https://mavolife.com https://mavolife.com

- wetoastfood 2mo agoMavo is currently trying to solve a much smaller scope of problems: can it help alleviate some stress that comes from a busy family schedule. For my family, this means making it not only accessible to me (a developer), but also my wife (who’s not), and potentially other family or helpers (who likely aren’t). That means I’m designing it with accessibility in mind: there’s a full featured GUI so you don’t have to talk to the AI to make changes if you don’t want to, events have built-in owners so you can assign someone or even round robin things and get notified if no one has an event covered, you can share a link with the grandparents to give them details that stay up to date, and, most importantly, you get these things out of the box without having to tinker (but you can go deeper if you prefer). I’m not aiming for it to be a fully autonomous agent, but I’m definitely thinking about ways to make it more proactive. Events in the system, for example, have an internal notification that can wake Mavo up to check on things without pushing an alert to the house unless it’s needed.
