America's Military Is Dangerously Exposed
- k310 2mo agoDoes someone have a paywall bypass? I am out of patience. Even archive.today is putting up endless CAPTCHAs. I let my captcha sovlver extensions burn up time and CPU, to no avail. TIA

- swingboy 2mo agoStill paywalled.
- Tostino 2mo agoYou were warned they'd do this. They did it. Maybe don't elect them if you don't want the outcome.
- hewasahaterboy 2mo agoHuman error. One of our teams deployed a bug to prod. The methods in place to remediate the bug are not sufficient, and we have to wait until next release to get it patched. Unless the bug is actually malware, in which case we can only hope the malware doesn’t overwrite the SOP for next release and stay in the system somehow. We are having troubles getting all teams in agreement due to poor architecture of the system. We have to do a rewrite of some major components if we want to prevent the issue in the future. Starting to feel like a lost cause though, as we can’t seem to come to an agreement on what the standards should be in any area. Unfortunately this is a system that does handle lives, and we simply do not have enough properly experienced and educated people to work on these issues with the budget to fight the existing system. Expect more lives to be lost and time-delayed problems in the future.

- paxys 2mo agoIt’s time for US to get out of the Middle East, period.
- bdangubic 2mo agothat will happen… exactly never. The empire of the United States will collapse before that happens (which will happen as all empires fall and we are not different)
- yogthos 2mo agoI don't see how it can not happen at this point. Iran won the war and has shown everyone that the US can't even protect itself in the region let alone the Gulf states. The bases, radar installations, supply depots, airfields, and so on, that took decades and untold trillions to build are all gone now, and US forces have been pushed back all the way to Jordan already. The satellite data shows the scale of the destruction pretty clearly. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2026-07-25/us-military-damage-to-weapons-bases-soldiers-during-iran-war/106954370 https://www.abc.net.au/news/2026-07-25/us-military-damage-to... There's no coming back from this. The US is basically blind now without all the early detection systems, and missile inventories are largely empty too. On top of that, the US can't even produce rare earths or magnets on its own. https://theoregongroup.com/commodities/rare-earths/us-suppliers-not-ready-for-pentagons-2027-ban-on-china-sourced-magnets-and-minerals/ https://theoregongroup.com/commodities/rare-earths/us-suppli... Without that, you can't even build a lot of these advanced weapons. Meanwhile, AP reports that nearly 700 U.S. service members have been wounded by drone and missile attacks on bases in the Middle East and other fighting. Given that the Pentagon is covering real numbers up, the reality is likely far worse. https://apnews.com/article/iran-war-traumatic-brain-injuries-troops-ba0137df7504abe6908557afeb2d9ebe https://apnews.com/article/iran-war-traumatic-brain-injuries... https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/ng-interactive/2026/jul/25/pentagon-iran-war-casualties-cover-up https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/ng-interactive/2026/jul/... This is a total military defeat for the US, and on top of that there are Hormuz and Bab el-Mandeb closures which are disrupting global energy markets. The US has been trying to stabilize oil prices by releasing the reserves, but those are starting to run dry. https://www.cnbc.com/2026/08/10/oil-in-strategic-petroleum-reserve-falls-below-300-million-barrels-lowest-since-1983.html https://www.cnbc.com/2026/08/10/oil-in-strategic-petroleum-r... An economic crash is a very likely scenario once it's no longer possible to release reserve to push oil prices down. At that point, it's simply not gonna be possible to keep a presence in the Gulf.
- k310 2mo agoThe Twitter time machine says: These are text from past tweets. No graphics here. • Donald J. Trump # @realDonaldT... 25/09/2013 Remember what I previously said--Obama will someday attack Iran in order to show how tough he is. • Donald J. Trump & @realDonaldTrump The United States has spent EIGHT TRILLION DOLLARS fighting and policing in the Middle East. Thousands of our Great Soldiers have died or been badly wounded. Millions of people have died on the other side. GOING INTO THE MIDDLE EAST IS THE WORST DECISION EVER MADE.. 8:14 AM • 10/9/19 • Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump What will we get for bombing Syria besides more debt and a possible long term conflict? Obama needs Congressional approval. 3:14 PM - 29 Aug 2013 • Donald J. Trump © @realDonaldTrump Remember that I predicted a long time ago that President Obama will attack Iran because of his inability to negotiate properly-not skilled! 9:55 PM - 11/10/13 • Donald J.
