The bigger issue here is that he mislead (I think lied to, personally) John Gruber to the point that Gruber had to issue his first retraction in 25 years: https://daringfireball.net/2026/08/retraction_app_store_rejection_of_the_week https://daringfireball.net/2026/08/retraction_app_store_reje...
- lern_too_spel 2mo agoGruber himself has misled his readers without a retraction for many years, but this one he gets to blame on someone else, so it's no skin off his back.
- simonw 2mo agoWhat are your favorite examples of him misleading his readers?
- lern_too_spel 2mo agoBane gives multiple examples in this thread: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=9345312 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=9345312. I mostly ignore Gruber's slop, but I have seen cases where he got technical details of Android multitasking wrong, which is nuts because it is both well documented and open source.
- minimaxir 2mo agoHow do you remember comments from over a decade ago?
- lern_too_spel 2mo agoSearch. I don't actually remember that particular comment, but I know I've seen such comments before.
