I'd love to be able to filter the feed so it only shows me actual posts by my connections. I do not care about comments my connections made on strangers' posts, and I surely do not care about posts by strangers that my connections 'liked'.
Anyone know if such a tool exists?
- morkalork 2mo agoRight, there are real posts from people I know hiding amongst the crap of promoted and suggested content. Not much, but it's there. It would be a shame to miss something from someone reaching out after a layoff or posting a job position at their company.
- mmarian 2mo agoBuilt one 6 years ago that I gave up on https://github.com/mihailthebuilder/simplyfeed https://github.com/mihailthebuilder/simplyfeed. The problem was that so many posts were filtered out that the feed would just show up empty.
- pkhamre 2mo agoTells more about the Linkedin-feed than the tool.
- IncreasePosts 2mo agoSounds like a great feature!
- Rendello 2mo agoI used a great one for FB until it stopped working, it blocked 95% of everything. Andrew Kelley had a good analogy in his Don't Take the Black Pill talk: > the user-facing software of Facebook is categorically, fundamentally coercive. It's like an arbitrary code execution exploit running on our brains. Scrolling down is the program counter, and the content that pops up is the instructions. https://andrewkelley.me/post/dont-take-black-pill.html#:~:text=Doomscrolling%2E https://andrewkelley.me/post/dont-take-black-pill.html#:~:te...
- flir 2mo agoWrite a browser plugin/userscript that, every time you hit / on facebook, redirects you to /?filter=all&sk=h_chr (In the age of AI it's better to DIY it, IMO, because it's one less bit of self-updating code you've downloaded from a stranger).
- Rendello 2mo agoThanks for the tip, the hidden feeds are much nicer.
- beezlewax 2mo agoBecause nobody posts anything and it is 90% bots?
- fg137 2mo ago> The problem was that so many posts were filtered out that the feed would just show up empty. Sounds like 1) it's working as designed 2) your direct connections are normal human beings
- rrr_oh_man 2mo agoI use this: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/linkoff-filter-and-custom/maanaljajdhhnllllmhmiiboodmoffon https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/linkoff-filter-and-...
- apparent 2mo agoJust tried it, and it's great! I like that the blocked posts are retained and minimized/greyed out. That way I can see that it's blocking 90+ percent of the posts.
- specproc 2mo agoI'm not at my computer, but I've got such a thing. It's a ViolentMonkey script, something like LinkedIn Sponsor Block or similar. Does just what you need.
- Azurealistic 2mo agoAre you able to get this script? Sounds delightful.
- specproc 2mo agoNot the author, but here you go: https://github.com/Hogwai/LinkedinSponsorBlock/ https://github.com/Hogwai/LinkedinSponsorBlock/
- dakial1 2mo agoYou can custom filter this with uBlock origin but sometimes linkedin changes the content blocks (e.g. from “x commented” to “x left a comment”) so you’ll need to do some maintenance. Also, if you filter all the junk linkedin throws you’ll get some delay as ublock filters everything out.
- ykthename 2mo agoI did this months ago: https://github.com/Hogwai/LinkedinSponsorBlock https://github.com/Hogwai/LinkedinSponsorBlock It's more focused on promoted/suggested content
