I'm sure there will be a ton of standard DDR5 sticks, but not so much from AI-only datacenters.
- cryo32 2mo agoExpecting a pivot back to transitional parts if it goes bang.
- inigyou 2mo agoChina has a cottage industry around taking apart circuit boards and reusing the chips in unexpected ways. That's how you get desktop MBs with soldered laptop CPUs. HBM and DDR aren't compatible as far as I'm aware, but they might be able to do something. Maybe they'll invent a converter chip.

- undersuit 2mo agoThe MI350X has a 1000W TDP. Maybe I'd use it in the winter.
- embedding-shape 2mo agoMy workstation is 1600W TDP and my office does get a bit cold in the winter, so it would do just fine next to us :)
- NekkoDroid 2mo ago> They're being put on things like the MI350X. Maybe we can get a few MI350P's out of that then :) Surely it will be easy to do :clueless: On a more serious note, I do wonder if it would theoretically be possible to put HBM on something like CAMM instead of regular DDR? I have not done any research on this.
