I've lived in cities not quite as bad as this (one of my earliest memories is my Dad pulling the family to the floor during a drive by right across the street), but the main thing to remember is that unless you catch a stray -- not impossible, but pretty unlikely as long as you hit the deck fast -- nobody is coming for you specifically. These are specific disputes about specific things (drugs, family, whatever) that don't involve you. It's not a school shooter who just wants to rack up kills. Stay down, mind your own business, and you'll be pretty safe.
