- CivBase 2mo agoI even wonder how much of the 1/3 who voted for him now regret it.
- jfengel 2mo agoNot many. And even fewer would make a different choice, given the opportunity. Change will rely entirely on people who sat out 2024. The question is how much regret they feel. Cynically, I assume most people would rather alter their world-views to justify their choice, than admit that they had made a mistake.
- snarf21 2mo agoNot voting against evil is indeed voting for evil and that is what the net majority did. The minority doesn't have a charismatic leader to rally around so we don't have a "movement" that can fight back against the corruption at scale. Democrats need to stop taking the high road and start thinking "WWRD?" and out do them.
- nozzlegear 2mo agoWhat Would Reagan Do?
- snarf21 2mo agoI meant Republicans more broadly. Whatever bad things Reagan did, it is a shadow on current Republican tactics.
- nozzlegear 2mo agoAh gotcha, now that I reread your comment it's obvious what you meant. My bad!
- gs17 2mo agoI mean, Reagan won 489 electoral votes and then followed it up with another 525, they could try doing some of that.
- bluGill 2mo agoYou don't really have a choice here. As a "conservative" (what ever that means...) I got two different evils that I couldn't stand. I voted third party, but even that party wasn't very close to what I really believe.
- watwut 2mo agoThe parties are not nearly symmetrical and if Harris with democrats are as evil to you ... then you are literally the problem. And you contributed to everything Trump does. I mean it. This both are same evil is either bullshit or completely wrapped non existent morality.
- bluGill 2mo agoThey are not the same evil. They are two very different evils and neither is acceptable.
- jakebol 2mo agoMany polls were done post election about preferences among non voters. https://www.npr.org/2025/06/26/nx-s1-5447450/trump-2024-election-non-voters-coalition https://www.npr.org/2025/06/26/nx-s1-5447450/trump-2024-elec...
- Analemma_ 2mo agoIn a two-party system, not voting (no matter what your stated rationale for it is) is functionally going "I support whatever everyone else picks, whatever they decide is fine with me." Under any reasonable consequentialist ethical system, I would say that is "choosing this".
