I don't understand how this phenomena of employees publicly criticizing the companies that they work for -- primarily on political grounds no less -- has come to be tolerated by those companies. This sort of thing used to be grounds for instant termination.

- anon373839 2mo agoSome US states have laws protecting employees’ political speech, so it would be illegal to terminate them and they would be entitled to sue.
- akimbostrawman 2mo agoThe same way any other political action by them in the last decade has been tolerated or really encouraged, ESG scores brought to you by the World Economic Forum.
- morning_poster 2mo agoIt's bizarre to me to see my post being voted down. As the other reply suggests, maybe there are some states with laws which offer legal protection from being fired to employees publicly disparaging their employers over political or ideological differences, though I doubt it very much. The First Amendment absolutely does not offer this protection (unless your employer is the government) and the courts have affirmed this over and over.
