This. If it's actually an illustrative part of the text, include it, even if it's AI generated. Not everyone who can write can do graphics.
If it's only decoration, leave it out. No matter whether AI, stock or custom made.
- jerkstate 2mo agonot everyone who can think and solve interesting problems can write prose well, but there's still a lot of complaining about AI-generated text.
- seba_dos1 2mo agoOne of the reasons is that, most of the time, LLMs can't do graphics or write prose well enough either; otherwise it wouldn't reek of LLMs so much to people who put some effort to read it. Also, even poor writing or drawing can be elevated with some intentionality and personality, and using LLMs pretty much guarantees blandness.
- cpburns2009 2mo agoYou can use AI as part of your editing process. But it needs to be a process, back and forth with human input, and human editing at the end. What people primarily complain about it pure AI text. It has sentences a paragraph long using every punctuation mark invented by man. If you look at book you'll notice the same style of punctuation used but it'll be at 10% of the rate. You won't see n/m-dashes, commas, colons, semi-colons, and parentheses all used in a single sentence.
- fidotron 2mo agoOne of the most tedious ideas of recent years is the "great engineers are great writers" meme, unsurprisingly spread by writers.
- tripzilch 2mo agoUnfamiliar with this meme. But I'd still rather read a badly human engineer written blog post than an LLM generated one.
- warpspin 2mo agoMe, too. Plus, who cares if an LLM corrects the grammar or something. If the engineer's a bad writer, the blog will at least restrict itself to the elemental information. There's too much SEO-influenced fluff anyway with people telling their supposed life stories as introduction to some technical tidbit. Same pestilence nowadays as with cooking recipes. Nobody wants to read that shit, no matter who or what generated it.
- monkeywork 2mo agoFor most people your blog is really for you, and if anyone is reading it on the regular than bonus points... but the vast majority of the planet who runs a blog the traffic is very low. So do with it as you wish, if you enjoy playing with AI and having it assist you with any part of it it's your corner of the net do with it as you absolutely wish and everyone else can kick rocks.
- aDyslecticCrow 2mo agoMost artists would prefer you to steal their art than paying a multi billion dollar company to steal it for you and make a worse inaccurate copy. And there are petabytes large free or cheap archives of clip-art, diagrams, and illustrations all over the internet.
