An interesting article on a terribly unfriendly platform.
Full-page modal that I'm shamed into "dismissing without supporting LitHub", Starlink ads covering half the content; a video ad featuring a guy holding a lapel mic floats over the right side of the page as I start reading, and every two paragraphs get sandwiched between more repeat ads. Hard pass.
- graemep 3mo agoI do not see anything like that. Just text with a few pictures. Turn off JS, end of problem.
- two_handfuls 3mo agoYes. I have started to really empathize with the people who choose not to read the linked articles.
- garciansmith 3mo agoI'm continually baffled that there are people on HN that browse the internet without a content blocker. UBlock origin on Firefox, I see none of what you describe. I just wouldn't read anything except Wikipedia if I didn't use them.
