I don't think we have much of an argument here since your opinion is so opposite to mine. Apart from some details like responsive web design and other miscellaneous interoperability and accessibility efforts, the past few decades of interface designs were not progress. We gimped the living shit out of everything to narrow the scope of every product and extract more money from the consumer. I mentioned AI because tech is only becoming a dead end when the consumer choice is illiteracy. It's pretty clear that's reversing and people do want a lot more information and control.
