Google’s own engineer stated that the file stored in Drive is not the actual chat, but only a JSON pointer that is linked to the server-side conversation through special metadata. When you download and re-upload it, the metadata is lost, so AI Studio cannot recognize it anymore. This proves that the conversation is not inside the JSON file but remains on Google’s servers even if you delete it from Drive or empty the trash. The Studio interface lies when it says “there is no such prompt,” because the prompt continues to exist on the server.
