- rbanffy 2mo agoI’m afraid “liberal” has no longer any recognisable meaning. The free-speech absolutists frequently align with the self-proclaimed conservatives, which are only “liberal” towards ideas they consider correct while they support aggressively condemnation of diverging ideas they call “illiberal”. I would prefer “progressive”, but that, as well, requires us to assume a direction for where society should progress. In any case, I think that the incentive to suppression of fundamental human rights cannot, by any measure, be called “liberal”.
