- tehjoker 3mo agoThat's because they fucked up. I don't know where you've been but we have been dominating oil markets since the end of WW2. The dollar is sometimes called the "petrodollar" because we shifted from a gold basis to a petrol exchange basis. The latest fuck ups may signal the beginning of the end.
