I'm CTO at a bowling software company (we also own a few centers), so this hit home — I had a similar reaction when I first started digging in. The equipment side builds genuinely great hardware, but the software has lagged badly. I assume that doing world-class manufacturing and modern software development in the same org is brutally hard.
