A couple of years back I took a horse and carriage ride around the Lüneburger Heide, a nature preserve just south of Hamburg. They really do a very good job of this sort of thing all over the region. Which I very much appreciate, because on balance a lot of this region of Germany feels like visiting midwestern suburbs...
