- makeitdouble 3mo agoOn top of that, one of the toughest part could be the extent of the power outage. - zuzululu 3mo ago> TSMC, Sony, Fujifilm chips, imagers, materials plants evacuated This makes me think, is it wise to build these places in regions with known earthquake trends. Almost no earthquakes in Korea and Samsung fabs are also located in the most safe area within Korea.
- bobthepanda 3mo agoJapan itself is involved with a lot of the R&D, the factories are there because of that and because of major buyers also being there. It’s not like we’re going to evacuate the hundred million plus of Japan.

- ksec 3mo agoOH. I have long wondered why Arizona is a major semi conductor manufacturing hub.
- ulfw 3mo agoAnd then one would argue is it wise to build these places in regions with an ongoing neighbour dispute and a never officially ended war. There's no perfect optimisation for everything
- zuzululu 3mo agoAlways amuses me when I see people fret about the Korean war never ended, true on paper, but it's like being worried about Quebec militarizing and overthrowing Ottawa. A small micro odd that many would be happy to take your money
- ulfw 3mo agoPlease educate yourself about the Korea border. It's an actual real thing and has zero resemblance to Quebec/Ottawa
- zuzululu 3mo agoI am well educated on the topic, I'm pointing out your ignorance since you genuinely appear to be fearing a North Korean invasion and when the probability is as low as Quebec to rise up against Canada.

- numpad0 3mo agoYep, it's been more than 48 hours since the quake, and casualty reports so far has been just 30(with hundreds hospitalized and some still trapped under wrecks). It's 3.6 roentgen situation, but for real.
