This whole article seems like a straw man.
Chad seems to be arguing:
1. DHH thinks all gypsies are bad, therefor
2. DHH does not see Roma as individual people, therefor
3. DHH is a bad person.
I read DHH's blog as:
1. It should still be illegal to camp in parks, therefor
2. People who do camp in parks should be housed, therefor
3. Foreigners who refuse housing should be deported.
- jorisw 2mo agoMy problem with the part about housing is that DHH acts as if cities have enough shelters to accommodate everyone and these 'gypsies' are refusing to go there. I don't buy that for a second.
- rwz 2mo agoI don't know about Copenhagen, but in US a significant fraction of the homeless population openly rejects various shelter and housing opportunities because those usually come with extra requirements for sobriety and commitments to addiction treatments. So yeah, there's definitely people who just refuse to go. Then there's also mentally ill people who operate in the grey zone of law — clearly too mentally ill to be prosecuted for their crimes (or haven't committed any crimes yet), can't be held in prison, but also too unstable and violent to be admitted to shelters with other, mostly normal disadvantaged people. One example of such case: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killing_of_Eina_Kwon https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killing_of_Eina_Kwon

- ChadNauseam 2mo agoIf he said "Foreigners who refuse housing should be deported." I would agree. Can you show me where he said that? I read "gypsies should be deported"
- ChadNauseam 2mo agoNote: I meant "I read a sentiment along the lines of 'gypsies should be deported'", I didn't mean to imply he said those words literally
