You can run with --no-migrations (https://pytest-django.readthedocs.io/en/latest/database.html#no-migrations-disable-django-migrations https://pytest-django.readthedocs.io/en/latest/database.html...) and default the test DB to be in memory (works at least for PG and SQLite) to make it quite a bit faster.
