I would not say there is nothing to worry about - I find the riots nasty and definitely worrying. There is definitely greater hostility towards certain groups: asylum seekers and Muslims for a variety of reasons. There are lots of complexities about this, and some genuine issues too that have not been dealt with, which creates an opportunity racists exploit. However, I think its very much a minority view. Even Tommy Robinson's "Unite The Kingdom" protest which DHH blogged about and Musk backed etc. and was supposed to be the far right's big show of support was much smaller than many other protests for many other causes over the years (for and against Brexit, Gaza, etc.) in recent years. I also think it likely even a lot of those who joined the protest have far narrower causes (e.g. anti-illegal immigration) than being fully alt-right.

  Yes, yes, but you see, it's also an arsonist right-wing mob running amok in the real world. Repeatedly! I mean I get it. This is terrifying. But that's exactly my point.

    Where I think I can say things are not as bad as they might look is that these mobs are a few hundred people at a time out of a country of 70m. Maybe a few thousand at the most actually violent at some point. As a visible ethnic minority person in the UK I can say I am not terrified. Concerned, yes, but its not even a major issue in my life.

      There has not been a single time in history where people have realised how bad things were. You're talking about a gang of a few hundred people roaming around and burning down Muslim places. Those people are the ones who are talking about rape gangs (which don't exist), right? How big are the rape gangs they talk about?
