Why would you produce content and have no one read it or visits your site, but OpenAI and Anthropic make millions from it? At some point it becomes stupid to just give free money to these companies when they steal literally all your traffic and content. As per the article, Anthropic sends 1 page view for every 38,000 views they get.
- ssl-3 3mo agoVery few people showed up to read stuff on the old web, and yet: It existed.
- freediddy 3mo agoThe "old web" hasn't existed in 30 years now. I was a part of the old web and if people in the early 90s knew that someone was profiting off their work it would have killed it immediately.
- ssl-3 3mo agoI was a part of the old web, too. Everything that I published in this way was placed online with the distinct expectation that everyone (and everything) would do whatever they wanted with it.
