  Yeah it's definitely some kind of delusion/gullibility exploit (probably mixed with having too much money). The guy isn't dumb, but he is obsessed with solving every problem with AI.

      I get the feeling he really wants the AI hype to be true and he's acting in ways that engage his confirmation bias.
