- apothegm 3mo ago… by defunding it?
- wompapumpum 3mo agoonly trump can do this
- dtagames 3mo agoThe famous writer Umberto Eco grew up under Mussolini. In an essay called Ur (Eternal) Fascism[0], he described how totalitarian systems are anti-scientific and instead promote religion, "the old ways," and gambling. - JohnFen 3mo agoAnd we shouldn't turn away from the fact that every one of his 14 points are strongly present in the US today.
- HarHarVeryFunny 3mo agoTrump also to usher in a new golden age of truth in government, DC non-swampiness, and non-abuse of office. Apple falls on Newton's head - invents theory of gravity. Apple falls on Trump's head - "WTF was that?!", tries to sue apple tree
- JohnFen 3mo agoHe'd have to stop trying to kill science first.
- Zigurd 3mo agoNow that bullshit about a golden age of science is obviously bullshit, I wonder how long it will take our supposed tech industry leaders to unhook their lips from Trump's rear end and admit that authoritarian, racist, sexist, anti-science politics isn't good for tech.
- JohnFen 3mo agoTech industry "leaders" actively want to be the authoritarians. They care about amassing wealth and power, they don't care what's good for tech, society, or people. I seriously doubt their stance will change.
- Sabinus 3mo agoIt's a bit of a reach but this kind of news makes me think of the Roman imperial cult. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roman_imperial_cult https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roman_imperial_cult
