Actually plain html is what IS safe.
It is javascript that allows corporate interests to pop up and nag screen you, and otherwise control your web browsing experience to their favor.
I have an app in my browser that allows me to toggle off javascript and vanquish most pop ups and nag screens.
- recursivegirth 3mo agoHere is the recommend app for this, used primarily by the Tor browser. https://noscript.net/ https://noscript.net/ I use this on news sites to get rid of the paywall.
- hogwasher 3mo agoublock origin (not to be confused with the lite version) can also do this, and is more flexible. But it's easy to miss this functionality because you have to know about and read some documentation to learn how to turn ublock's "medium" mode on and how the controls work.
- inigyou 3mo agoPlain HTML is unsafe for Reddit, which is a company, and needs a safe revenue stream.
- SV_BubbleTime 3mo agoNote, Reddit is a publically traded company with a P/E higher than NVidia. Nothing makes any sense and I hope Reddit crashes as soon as possible with their terrible decisions.
