I'm questioning the ethics of having this on HN at all. I think that is absolutely within reason.

Sorry, this is not yet Gaza where you can just drop a bomb on someone you dislike. If Israel is a start-up nation, I guess from the Zionist point of view, the newly UN recognized nation of Palestine is a nation to "shut down". Like with Netanyahu's recent shutting off of east Palestine. For daring to show that only nine countries oppose the existence of the Palestinian state - the USA, Israel, and Canada - as well as some US territories in the Pacific with UN votes (Marshall Islands, Palau). Considering how this posted topic has immediately turned into a flamewar, it is obvious that the "introduction of classic flamewar topics" was done by the original submitter. You start the fire, then point a whiny finger at those who come around - how typical of a Zionist.

  How typical of an antisemitic to immediately make it personal and blame a user that simply quoted the site's policy (which to remind you, is not yours to decide about) and violate the same policy by calling some poor user who has nothing to do with the topic "a Zionist." Yes, everyone is a Zionist, the jews control the world, they kill Palestinians and use their blood to make Mazzas for Passover, we are sick of hearing it, besides being racist and antisemitic, it's boring, we hear this for thousands of years. please provide something new. that's was the purpose of that comment. You know what? I wish you love success and prosperity and hope to God one day you'll take the time and read the facts and see how you are brainwashed with antisemitic propaganda.

When the Israeli terrorists stop murdering women and children and ordinary civilians we can stop flame wars against them. Until then if you stay silent at the injustice, you are siding with the oppressor. That's from Desmond Tutu who fought South African apartheid. Guess what he's got to say about Israeli regime? He said it's worse than what they faced; there were no white-only roads in South Africa and they weren't bombing blacks with F-16s and Gunship helicopters like Israelis are.
