Using a tomb to expand our knowledge of the ancient world seems like small potatoes in comparison. Overton window is already far off
- pseingatl 3mo agoFleece. But a good play--AI wouldn't make this mistake.
- geokon 3mo agoThanks :)
- kergonath 3mo agoThat’s a bit over-selling it. The Panthéon and the Invalides are not really touristic attractions. The Louvre, Versailles, and the Eiffel Tower are much more effective for that purpose. They are used for culture building, not to make money. Besides, only ashes remain of Napoleon and even the bodies that are there are entombed. They are necropoles, not shows. There isn’t much to see there.
- suddenlybananas 3mo agoHow is the Pantheon and the Invalides any different from a cemetery? Do you think the mere act of visiting a burial site is immoral?
- geokon 3mo agoA cemetery that charges an entrance fee..
- suddenlybananas 3mo agoPlenty of high-profile cemeteries do, Highgate Cemetery in London for example charges a fee despite just being a normal (if high-profile) cemetery. The French don't charge for access to Père-Lachaise however, which is the rough equivalent in Paris. St. Paul's in London has tombs in it, and it charges a fee! It's a super normal practice. How else could you manage the amount of people who would go?
