  I'm not sure what the price of gold exceeding 1000 USD/ounce has to do with reddit, but I'm not sure what it has to do with hacker news either.

    About as little as does the fact that by the end of the day it was back below 1000 - virtually where it started the day. Henny Penny, however, is taking cover.

    It's risen like 50% YoY. It has been, by far, the best investment vehicle from September on.
