$5 USD. What did you expect?
Always surprises me when people pay essentially nothing for a product and then complain about quality.
- ddtaylor 3mo agoWould you say the same about a vendor selling rotten or spoiled food?
- lostlogin 3mo agoIf it was 1/4 the normal price, I’d be suspicious.
- bayindirh 3mo agoMarketed as a USB 2.0 hub with a single USB 3.0 port? When I last looked, typing truth via keyboards were free and valuable at the same time.
- bigfishrunning 3mo agoWhy type truth when you can have some LLM generate lies?
- bayindirh 3mo agoTo protect turtles?
- teiferer 3mo agoOf course it's wrong. But then again, what did you expect? A high quality super reliable full USB 3.0 speed 7 port hub? For $5? That shouldn't pass anybody's smell test. There is a cost to things, and if the price seems too low then your alarm bells need to go off. (I don't get why I'm downvoted. Maybe I should have been clearer the first time around.)
- teo_zero 3mo ago> I don't get why I'm downvoted Because your comment was addressing the author instead of the article itself. Tell-tale words are "you" and "people". It would have been different if you said, for example, "I have developed a rule that if something is too cheap, it must be rubbish". See how this delivers your opinion without suggesting stupidity about the others who don't share it?
- Cthulhu_ 3mo agoI mean yeah you get what you pay for. The main issue I think is false advertising; there's only so much you can do for foreign webshops, but if this were on e.g. Amazon, then Amazon should be pulled up on it (that is, huge fines so they don't do it again). EU is cracking down on foreign webshops at least, setting rules for advertising, increasing import taxes to avoid flooding the local market with many individual packages that circumvent spot checks for basic electronic safety and (EM) emissions (what the FCC looks out for as well), etc.
- Gigachad 3mo agoI would expect at any price point the seller should not be lying about the specs.
- bigfishrunning 3mo agoWell then AliExpress is not the storefront for you

- einsteinx2 3mo agoRight? This is basically one small step away from stuff like “2TB usb stick for $20” scam listings on AliExpress. Of course it will be fake or crap. Cool tear down and write up though.
- ddtaylor 3mo agoI don't think any scamming should be normalized.
