Back in my day, we used to walk 15 miles up hill, BOTH WAYS, just to get to school...
- bryanrasmussen 3mo agowell if the school was on top of the hill and you lived at the bottom you would need to walk up hill no matter which way you took, I'm guessing there was only two roads going up the hill though?
- LastTrain 3mo agoThree roads actually, figure that out
- bryanrasmussen 3mo agodoesn't matter, you're still walking uphill to get to school, no matter which way you're taking.
- rurban 3mo agoYou could take a bike, an ebike, a car, or public transport nowadays. Not middle ages anymore
- PeterStuer 3mo agoThe 'BOTH WAYS' in the original stood for 'both walking to the school and walking back from school'. ;)
- Terr_ 3mo agoI suppose if either end was actually a floating structure that moved with the tide...
- bryanrasmussen 3mo agothat may be what was intended, but if so they should have written something like "we used to walk 15 miles up hill, BOTH WAYS, just to get to school and back home", which approximates the way that joke is generally phrased, instead of "we used to walk 15 miles up hill, BOTH WAYS, just to get to school" ;)
