Anky – write for 8 minutes, no backspace, 8 seconds of silence ends it
- jpfraneto 3mo agoi've done an important daily practice for four years: write without stopping Anky is that practice as software. if you pause for N seconds (1-8), the session ends — the app intercepts the avoidance reflex at the exact moment it fires, instead of letting you edit yourself into silence. think of self inquiry > each session is a single plain-text string — line 1 is an epoch-ms timestamp + first character, every subsequent line is the delta-ms (1-8) + character. the .anky string is the session perfectly deterministic and reconstructable, including every hesitation. identity is a local BIP39 seed phrase that signs requests to verify user sessions without backend, no email, no account. continuity solo founder, built on the end of the world at the south of chile. would love brutal feedback on the mechanic itself — does the 8-second constraint read as discipline or as gimmick? did you download the app and get to write? what did it bring to you? say it all im looking forward for your feedback
- gus_massa 3mo agoDo you avoid cheating like typing "emmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..." ?
- jpfraneto 3mo agoactually not. this is a practice designed to develop self awareness, and if you go to something like this and cheat like that... why? it is just more efficient and rewarding to follow the thread of your thoughts. have you ever done it?

Seems very LLM written to me, perhaps Claude Sonnet? It's also quite hard to understand what that means until you realise it's a local-first phone app.
- jpfraneto 3mo agoyeah im figuring out how to phrase it tbh. i think the design is elegant and solves a real problem, but agree the wording is messy
